the idea: Well, it's springtime in LA and that usually means that everything is blooming especially the poppy fields in Lake Elsinore and Antelope Valley( aka #superbloom) . I was on the freeway a few weeks ago and I saw this huge cascade of flowers on an overpass- I immediately was reminded of the superbloom and pictured someone standing in the middle of this very cold and concrete area in the one specific spot where the flowers had chosen to bloom. I want to continue shooting this project as a series- the first installment focuses on industrial environments where I've brought in patches of flowers. I chose to use Gillian and Brad because they are the antithesis of the bohemian/classic cali models I usually see frolicking in the flowers. The whole series is meant to be a playful satire- pushing people to challenge their environments.
